Last updated 27 September 2026 · nowplayed LLC
nowplayed connects to the game platforms you already use, pulls in what you own and what you have played, and keeps it in one place. This page says what that involves: what we hold, where it comes from, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it.
What we hold
| Your account | Your email address and a password, which is stored hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never see the password. |
|---|---|
| Your profile | The display name, handle, avatar and theme you choose. The avatar may be the one from a platform you connect. |
| Platform connections | The identifier each platform uses for you (a Steam ID, a PlayStation account ID and online ID, an Xbox XUID) and the credential that lets us read your library on your behalf. Credentials are encrypted at rest with a key we hold, are used only to sync your own library, and are deleted when you disconnect the platform. |
| Your library | The games you own and have played on each connected platform, your hours, your achievements and trophies with the dates you earned them, and your wishlist where a platform exposes one. |
| What you add | Ratings, reviews, notes, rankings, statuses, playthrough dates and the music you pick for your profile. |
| Derived facts | Things we work out from the above, such as when a playthrough started and ended, or whether a game looks finished. These are ours to be wrong about; you can correct any of them. |
Where it comes from
- Steam, via Valve's Web API, after you sign in with Steam.
- PlayStation, via Sony's PlayStation Network, either by signing in with your PlayStation account in the nowplayed app or by proving you own a public profile with a short code. What Sony shares is governed by your PlayStation privacy settings.
- Xbox, via the Xbox network, through a key you create at xbl.io.
- Game facts that are the same for everyone, such as release dates, cover art, genres and how long a game takes to finish, come from IGDB and HowLongToBeat. They are about games, not about you.
What we do with it
Show it back to you, and keep it current by syncing your connected platforms automatically, about once a day. Facts about games (not about you) are cached so the next person who owns the same game does not have to wait for the same lookup.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or run analytics or tracking scripts on the site. There are no ads.
What other people can see
Your library is private by default. Two switches change that, both in your profile settings and both off until you turn them on:
- Share my profile publicly puts your profile at a link anyone can open. Reviews are shared one at a time, with their own switch on each game.
- Share with people I follow back lets people you follow, and who follow you, see what you have marked as playing or finished.
Turning either off hides it again.
Music
Profile music is played through Spotify's own embedded player (or Bandcamp's). We store only the identifier of the track you picked. Spotify's terms and privacy policy apply to the player itself.
Where it lives
Data is stored with Supabase (database and authentication) and the site is served by Netlify. Both are hosted in the United States. Platform credentials are encrypted before they are stored.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
- Disconnecting a platform deletes its credential immediately. Your games stay, so syncing stops rather than your history vanishing.
- Deleting your account (Settings → Account) removes your library, playthroughs, notes, rankings, connections, profile and login. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Cached facts about games remain, because they are not about you.
Age
nowplayed is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly hold data about children.
